Multi-element screening is intended to provide information on which elements can be detected in a sample and on their approximate concentrations. In the screening a combination of
ICP-AES and
ICP-SFMS is used. About 70 elements are determined, partly by using "single-standard analysis". Multi-element screening can be used as a basis for selecting elements for subsequent quantitative analysis. Examples of such applications include investigations prior to establishing a monitoring programme for industrial emissions and verification of raw materials and/or reagents in the processing industry.
